In the Spring of 2009, Caly was offered the position as Director of Special Projects on behalf of SARA. Inasmuch as this invitation came from Caly’s Animal Reiki Teacher, Caly was moved to say the very least. Knowing this position will help so many animals, which is something very dear to Caly’s heart, Caly gladly accepted. As Director of Special Projects, one of Caly’s main responsibilities is to create SARA’s quarterly Newsletter, which is filled with great stories, articles and other information. What Is SARA?
SARA stands for Shelter Animal Reiki Association. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to:
- Raise awareness of the benefits Reiki for Animals can provide for shelter and rescue animals;
- Teach and foster an understanding of energy healing and the best ethical approach to use when working with Reiki and animals;
- Promote the highest standard of professional Shelter Reiki programs around the world;
Some of SARA’s goals are to:
- Create a healing and harmonic energetic space within the shelter environment;
- Promote stress relief and relaxation for the animals, as well as their human caretakers;
- Support healing possibilities on all levels (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual), as well as higher adoption rates.
How will SARA accomplish their mission?
- By supporting Reiki practitioners in implementing professional, effective and ethical Animal Reiki programs in their local shelters;
- By extensive documentation on Reiki effects on individual animals, as well as possible effects on shelter statistics as a whole.
